The Market on First Fridays

The Market

The Market returns as a First Friday event: June 6 & August 1st

About

This summer The Market returns as a First Friday event and features a gallery and shop hop that exhibits artwork at a variety of indoor sites. Meanwhile, the sidewalks will be flooded with artist vendors, performances, and entertainment all along South Division between Fulton and Cherry.

Showcasing local artists and businesses, this street market style event features the work of local artists and artisans, showcasing a wide selection of tasteful and fun handmade goods by some of Grand Rapids’ most talented creative doers. The Market on First Fridays, fun for all ages, is free, open to the public and one of the best opportunities this summer to find unique gifts and treasures. The Market on First Fridays will also feature a variety of entertainment throughout the day.

By combining the Market and First Fridays, Avenue for the Arts is  making the most of both events and providing a variety of activities for people to participate in one night. The event will include drink specials, exhibition receptions, sidewalk sales and food vendors. This event strengthens the commerce and community in Grand Rapids by attracting artists and art enthusiasts from all over the city. We can’t wait for you to join us!   Want to be a vendor? Volunteering for The Market on First Fridays is a great way to get involved with the art community in Grand Rapids. Events by Avenue for the Arts draw in creatives from all over Grand Rapids and showcases many talented artists, musicians, and performers. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to network and directly interact with a diverse crowd of local artists and makers. For students and young professionals, use this experience as a resume builder and a chance to gain insight on how a street fair operates. Tasks will include helping vendors at booths, passing out water, directing visitors, sidewalk maintenance, and more. We would love for you to be a part of the Avenue for the Arts community and help make this summer event the best ever!
